Measurement - Locations and Times on Earth.
Main page.

An important understanding within the consideration of measurement is the comparison of times throughout the world.

The Sun rises at different places as Earth rotates anticlockwise. We are rotating and moving - NOT the Sun.

So we need to be able to estimate the time in the various places where we have friends, where we do not yet have friends or where an event is happening and we might want to watch it on TV.

For example we might want to watch Alex De Minaur or Ash Barty play tennis in London or New York, watch the Olympics in Japan or watch the World Cup for football in Qatar. But what is the present time at those locations?

We need to learn how to compare times from one place to another for so many reasons including for our ease of living:

Note - I did not even include exams in that list. Exams are much less important than the reasons listed.

This unit presents details of how to estimate locations on Earth, the times at those locations and how to make comparisons.
